In 2025, endurance athlete and Navy Veteran, Jeff Snyder, challenged himself to complete as many laps on the Manitou Incline in one month to mark his five-year expedition using hiking, rucking, and trail running to overcome his PTSD diagnosis and reconnect as a father and husband.
Jeff wanted to leverage this challenge to inspire and support fellow veterans to use hiking to recover and transition home from their wartime service.
He created Operation Hiking Home to fundraise and bring attention to Warrior Expeditions and advocate for hiking as a tool for post-war recovery and transitioning home.
Operation Hiking Home 2025
Warrior Expeditions is a veteran nonprofit outdoor therapy program that helps veterans transition from their wartime experiences through long-distance outdoor expeditions.
The expeditions allow veterans to decompress from their military service while building camaraderie with fellow veterans.
Participants report marked improvement in PTSD, anxiety, and depression symptoms, three of the most commonly reported symptoms experienced by combat veterans.
As the official charitable partner of Operation Hiking Home, Warrior Expeditions receives vital funding from Jeff’s endurance milestones. Together, we are leading veterans on their return journey from war zones based upon three core concepts:
1. Veterans supporting veterans
2. Veterans taking control and responsibility for their recovery and transitioning home
3. Leveraging outdoor expeditions as a tool for recovery and transitioning home
